Ask any parent what matters most in child care, and the answer is the people. At Sunny Pointe Childcare Center in Northville, many of our teachers have been here for a decade or more. Here are a few of them.
A Full-Circle Moment
This September, something happened for the first time in our history: a child we once cared for enrolled their own child in our toddler room. After so many years in Northville, seeing a former Sunny Pointe child choose us for their own family was a very special moment for our whole team.
Rebekah and Jackie: From Toddler Room to Directors
Rebekah and Jackie started out together as toddler teachers. Today Rebekah is our Director, with 18 years at Sunny Pointe. Jackie, about 20 years with us, is our Assistant Director and Preschool Lead. After all these years, they now run the center together — and they still love what they do.
30 Years in the Infant Room
One of our infant teachers has cared for babies at Sunny Pointe for 30 years, since the center’s early days. She prefers to stay out of the spotlight, so we will not name her, but if you tour our infant room, you will meet her.
Ms. Shelley, Pre-K and Young Fives
Ms. Shelley has taught our Pre-K room for 14 years and holds degrees in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.

Ms. Cindy, Preschool
Ms. Cindy has been part of our preschool room for about ten years.

Japanese- and Spanish-Speaking Staff
We have three Japanese-speaking staff members and two Spanish-speaking staff members. Ms. K has worked at Sunny Pointe on and off since the center’s early years and has helped many Japanese families settle in. Ms. Keiko joined us two years ago. Our Japanese-speaking staff help make communication, and the move into child care, more comfortable for Japanese families, and our Spanish-speaking staff do the same for Spanish-speaking families.
