Sunny Pointe’s preschool program in Northville, Michigan gives children a warm, home-like setting to build early literacy, social, and motor skills through hands-on learning centers.
Our Preschool program is designed for children ages 2½ through 4 years old. Our play-based approach gives children plenty of opportunities to learn through exploration, creativity, movement, and meaningful play, with supportive teacher guidance throughout the day.
Weekly themes are woven into circle time, stories, art, music, sensory experiences, and Learning Centers. Children have opportunities to explore early literacy and math concepts while also developing independence, communication skills, friendships, and important classroom routines such as sharing, taking turns, following directions, and working together.
Our Preschool program is led by Ms. Jackie, who has been part of the Sunny Pointe family for 20 years. She holds a degree in Elementary Education as well as a Child Care Administration credential. While she also serves as Sunny Pointe’s Assistant Director, her favorite place to be is in the classroom, where she enjoys getting to know each child and working closely with families.
As children grow and become ready for their next step, they transition into our Pre-K program, where they continue building the skills and confidence they will need for kindergarten.

The morning is followed by rest time or quiet time, which is from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm. At this time children may sleep, listen to music, or read. After 45 minutes of rest time they may play a table activity.

The afternoon includes a snack, learning centers, outdoor recess or group game and ending circle. Learning centers make up the largest portion of the daily schedule in the classroom. Learning centers provide an opportunity for your child to develop hands-on reinforcement of concepts and skills that have been introduced in a whole-group setting. Young children learn best through active exploration and concrete experience. The experiences focused on include literacy, art, blocks, sensory (sand and water), music and movement, discovery (math and science), dramatic play, games (small and large groups), cooking, and gymnastics.

Our preschool room is for children from 2½ through 4 years old. Around age 4, children move up to our Pre-K and Young Fives program.
Sunny Pointe is open Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 5:30pm, at 19149 Fry Road in Northville.
Our Preschool program is led by Ms. Jackie, who has been part of the Sunny Pointe family for 20 years, with preschool assistant Cindy, who has been with us for about 10 years. Several of our teachers have been here more than 20 years.
Yes. We have Japanese-speaking teachers on staff across several of our rooms.
We provide snacks. Most families pack lunch from home. Pizza is often offered on Fridays, and it is always optional — we check with parents each time.
Our parent app lets you message the center, and teachers send photos and videos of your child when you ask. Classroom cameras are used for safety only and are never streamed outside the center, to protect every child’s privacy.
