How Tuition Is Calculated
Your rate comes down to three things:
- Your child’s age. Younger children cost more to care for. Our infant room runs at a 1:3 staff-to-child ratio — one teacher for every three babies — where an older classroom can be staffed at a higher ratio. That difference in staffing is the single biggest driver of price in child care anywhere, not just here.
- How many days per week your child attends.
- Which program your child is enrolled in — infant, young toddler, toddler, preschool, Young Fives, or summer camp.

What to Ask Any Center You Are Comparing
Tuition is rarely the whole cost, and centers quote it differently. Whether you are looking at us or somewhere else, these are the questions that make two prices genuinely comparable:
- Is the rate weekly or monthly, and does it change if my child is absent or we take vacation?
- Is there a registration or enrollment fee, and is it charged once or every year?
- Are meals and snacks included, or do we pack them?
- Are diapers, wipes and supplies included?
- What are the late-pickup fees?
- Which holidays are you closed, and are those days still charged?
- What is the staff-to-child ratio in the room my child would actually be in?
- How long have the teachers in that room been here?
That last pair matters more than most families expect. Ratio and teacher turnover shape your child’s day far more than any amenity, and they are the questions centers are least likely to volunteer.
Ways Families Manage the Cost
Many families pay for child care through a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account, which uses pre-tax dollars, and some qualify for the State of Michigan’s Child Development and Care (CDC) assistance program.
